The Electoral College is Tried and True

Well, of course some Republican would say that. They love George W. Bush. If enough states had passed this bill before 2000, we wouldn't be in this mess. As I point out at on my web site, people in Massachusetts had, in 2000, a vote that counted for about half of what the people of Wyoming have.

And if you really delve into it, you'll see why Republicans love the un-democratic method of choosing an executive: The little states that get a vote bonus are almost all Republican.

At its heart, though, this is an issue of fairness. If we keep using the Electoral College, then we are not democratically electing our Presidents. Simple as that.

So, whine away Republicans. This idea is going to win, and you'll just have to live with it.

The American People

“The American people don’t elect somebody who can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.”--Robert Gibbs, denying that the oil spill had paralyzed the Obama White House, leaving it to us to remember that George W Bush was not "elected."
